Why should consumers have all of the cool iOS-based control? Key Digital is extending that option to commercial applications, with Compass Control.

Key Digital is calling Compass Control the first fully integrated major control system built from the ground up to use Apple’s iOS 5 devices.

That means that the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch are the backbone of the Compass Control setup. However, it has quite the lengthy list of compatible Compass Alliance Partners, including Aprilaire, Boston Acoustics, ClearOne, Denon, Furman, ICRealtime Security Solutions, iPort, Key Digital, LG, Lutron, Luxul Marantz, MechoSystems, Onkyo, Panamax, Primeview, Russound, SurgeX, and Wolfvision.

According to Key Digital, having the alliance allows Compass Control to be a complete turnkey or commercial control solution.

However, users will need a KD-CSL Compass Control software license and the KD-MC2500 Master Controller, which serves as the brain for the entire system. The Master Controller is controllable via TCP/IP and can communicate with all of the devices on the Compass setup.

Other Compass control options include RS-232, IR and the aforementioned TCP/IP. It also features bi-directional IR, two-way RS-232 with feedback, and two-way TCP/IP.
